This is where to go to have that alone time with the one you love. This lodge was recommended to us by a friend. We checked it out in April 2023. We loved the room and the quiet atmosphere. There were other people staying there but you would never know it. It's so quiet and relaxing. We booked another stay in November 2023 because we loved it there. We tried the wilderness suite in April and the canyon room in November. Both rooms were beautiful and very cozy. We've stayed in hotels and you only get 2 towels. This lodge supplies you with plenty of towels for your stay. The rooms are very clean and there's no in person interaction with anyone from the lodge. It is all on a trust policy. The gift shop has many choices of souvenirs. We cannot recommend this lodge enough. It's so quiet and a great place to connect with the one you love. It's adults only. You won't regret it.

The reviews left prior to our visit is the reason I chose Bear Mountain Lodge for my husband's and I wedding anniversary. We booked 5 days for the canyon room. Never having stayed in a B&B we didn't know what to expect. The Lodge itself was really cute and comfortable. There was a common room to sit in and a kitchen area with a microwave and refrigerator. Snack bars and trail mix was out along with fruit. The room itself was comfortable. It got very warm so we didn't use the fire place. The bathroom was a nice size with large sink area and a mini fridge. There was a keurig coffee maker with lots of options. We did bring a case of our own bottles water and coffee. 2 wasn't enough for me. The deck had a hot tub and was very cozy with the privacy curtains and lights. The only downside was the traffic noise. There was a lot of trucks that would drive by and it was loud. That was the only complaint we really had, not the lodges fault. We didn't see the other guest much but could certainly hear...read moreThe reviews left prior to our visit is the reason I chose Bear Mountain Lodge for my husband's and I wedding anniversary. Great place to relax Great place to stay just to relax, ride the trail, or visit Wellsboro. The decor is nicely done; Bear Mountain is obvious everywhere. We even ready a review in the guest book that just a few weeks ago, a bear was here to welcome the guests. We were celebrating a birthday and riding the Pine Creek trail. We stayed in the Canyon room and were welcomed with a personal note on the mantel. Everything was ready for our stay when we arrived. Just walk in and make yourself at home. The room was supplied with muffins, fresh fruit, breakfast bars, juice, water and coffee. Fresh fruit and trail mix and granola to go also available in the kitchen, which I took advantage of. There’s a large front deck for sunny afternoons inside or out, and our room had a small deck facing the back woods. The little hot tub was really appreciated after a long ride on the trail - 62 miles for 60+ birthday 😉 . The bedroom and bath were clean and comfy, with towels for shower and hot tub. Another stay with Bear Lodges Another absolutely wonderful time!!! My husband and I decided we needed to get away for awhile and wanted to visit the PA Grand Canyon. It is only a little over 2 hours away for us so we figured it would be a great place to visit again. This time we decided to try Bear Meadows and once again we were not disappointed. Just like Bear Mountain Lodge, Bear Meadows is a very wonderful place. Beautiful lodge with grand lodging. They make you feel like royalty!! Gorgeous view from our private patio, relaxing hot tub for our early evening leisure time, comfortable king size "sleigh bed"(had to use the step stool to get onto bed, LOL), delicious snacks/fruit/water etc and peace and quiet. It is WONDERFUL!!!! We recommend Bear Lodges to all our friends and family and look forward to visiting again in the near future. A big THANK YOU to Jim, Amanda and Sherri!!!!!!

Bear Meadow Lodge Rm 9 My fiance and I were looking to get away and remove ourselves from the same old things back home with the covid restrictions. She found this lodge and was amazed by all the positive reviews. She called to see if there were any open rooms and she spoke with Amanda. From there, things just got better. Amanda answered all of Theresa's questions and couldn't have been more helpful. We booked room nine which had two bathrooms and a deck with a hot tub. When we got there they had candles going and music playing, They also had a refrigerator with drinks in it, and on a table, there were muffins, fruit, and power bars. The place was spotless and came with nice comfortable robes which we used after sitting in the hot tub. We can't say enough about the place or about Jim and Amanda. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

Bear Lodges was absolutely outstanding. My husband and I have never stayed at a B&B but for being our first time it was extremely delightful. From the start of arriving at the beautiful lodge already had us excited to say the least. We are from a decent sized city so to come to the beautiful quiet country was the best way to escape our busy lives. When we entered our room, we were ecstatic. We booked the headwaters room. The bathroom was exceptionally big and cozy. The fireplace made it even more cozy. Even with COVID they still accommodated with breakfast. They even offered to accommodate for brunch but we declined due to our planned adventures. To top off all these amazing arrangements, the deck and hot tub were the icing on the cake. The view was absolutely INCREDIBLE! You will be blown away. Something that stood out to me was how easy it was to check in. No face to face but easy to contact our host who was by far extremely helpful! By the way you are literally minutes from downtown wellsboro. So go stay there you will be blown away! Bear Mountain Lodge was the perfect place for a surprise-romantic-getaway-birthday weekend. We stayed in the Canyon room which was small and cozy but certainly enough space for the 2 of us, and it was really cute and the bathroom was quite large. The breakfast items provided were so yummy! And the private deck with lights and hot tub were the best part! So pretty and relaxing! The tourism materials provided inside the cute Bear Mountain bag were really helpful and informative in planning our short stay. For some reason we forgot to read specifically the materials that were inside the envelope until after we got home. We wish we had checked the information in the envelope sooner because we would have learned that the cute Bear Mountain bag provided was ours to keep, and we would have found some Chamber dollars to spend downtown! We were saying how much we wished we could keep the bag but didn't think it was ours to take. Well that's what we get for not doing a more thorough reading of the materials provided! Next time! 😊❤ Huge thank you to the staff for a great experience!

Anniversary Getaway My husband and I just spent a few days at the Bear Mountain Lodge to celebrate our 30th Anniversary and enjoyed our stay tremendously! The Lodge is BEAUTIFUL, VERY CLEAN and gives you the feeling of being at HOME. We stayed in the Canyon Room and got a lot of use out of the hot tub which was already running and hot before we even got in our room. The small touches the caretakers do to make your stay enjoyable is very special. We had a sign sitting above the fireplace wishing us a Happy 30th Anniversary along with a pink rose and battery operated candle burning to welcome us. Very nice surprise! Enjoyed the quiet, peacefulness of the wooded area surrounding the lodge. Definitely will recommend this place to any of our friends who are looking for a romantic getaway. Well worth the money!! Thank you to the Bear Mountain owner and staff for a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Can't wait to return someday soon!!!!

We once again stayed with The Bear Lodges of Wellsboro, we keep coming back because it is an outstanding lodge located just minutes from the PA Grand Canyon. This time we chose Bear Meadows and loved it just as much as Bear Mountain. You just cannot go wrong staying in these lodges. Beautiful, clean (beyond clean...spotless) rooms in a beautiful setting, and you are really taken care of. |There is no formal breakfast but they stock your room with pastries, fruit and an assortment of coffees and juice for the morning. They stock your room's mini fridge with items you can throw in a backpack to take with you as you hike, bike, or explore. Fruit, yogurt, cheese, granola bars, and assorted teas, Gatorade and water. |A cute burlap carry all is also included that is filled with maps of the area and "chamber dollars" that you can use at area restaurants. |Five Plus Stars. Word of caution though, after staying at Jim's lodges and being cared for by Amanda and Sherri, any other B/B you might stay at during your travels will disappoint you, because you will be comparing them to Bear Mountain...read moreWe once again stayed with The Bear Lodges of Wellsboro, we keep coming back because it is an outstanding lodge located just minutes from the PA Grand Canyon. Our first experience with staying at a lodge. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Location is perfect- close drive to restaurants, bars & hiking areas. We stayed in the smallest room - the Bear room but it was a perfect size. The bed was very comfortable! Loved the hot tub on the deck with its outdoor lamp & privacy curtains with a nice view of the woods. Bathroom was perfect. Fireplace, Keurig & a small refrigerator in the room which is filled every day with muffins, snacks, juice water etc. The decor of the entire house is done adorably. Very, very clean also! Included in our stay also was scrumptious chocolate covered strawberries, tickets to Corning Museum of glass (only 45 minutes away) & Wellsboro bucks which we spent on lunch & chocolates in town. Amazed how quiet it was there every night- even on the last night when all four rooms were full. Meet Sheri one morning , she was very helpful on where to hike. Felt so relaxed & comfortable from the minute we got there until we left 4 days later. We will be back! Thank you!

We celebrated 42 years of marriage at Bear Mountain Lodge. For us, this is the type of bed and breakfast we enjoy - romantic, comfortable, spotless room with its own deck and hot tub overlooking a forest view. Who could ask for more? The continental breakfast is more than ample and provided in the room with extra goodies in the kitchen if you are still hungry. Even trail mix is also provided to take with as you sightsee or ride the bike trail nearby. There is a nice shared living room area which we used to read and enjoy a moments relaxation. The Inn is located close to state parks with trails and scenic overlooks and is a great base camp to see the PA Grand Canyon. It is a short drive to Wellsboro which has shops, a quaint feel, and a number of locations for meals. Sherri was our host. She loves what she does in running this place and it shows in the many details that make it outstanding. We are planning to return in the fall to enjoy the autumn colors.

After a fun day of hiking the PA Grand Canyon, we arrived to a self check-in: the key was waiting for us on the door with a welcome note and a jute bag filled with information about the area. As we walked in, we were greeted by flickering electric candles, quiet jazz music, a fresh rose, and a Keurig full of water and ready for brewing. The place was clean, comfortable and beautiful. It was a perfect getaway for us: we had been seeking quiet refreshing, and we found it at the Bear Meadows Wilds Room. We lit our fireplace, put on the comfortable robes, and relaxed in the private hot tub on our back patio. Then we brewed some coffee and had a chance to talk and reconnect in this very remote location, way up in the woods and mountains of Tioga County. We spent time walking the quaint streets of Wellsboro and visiting many of the locally-owned/run shops. Definitely check out Pop's Culture, a game store run by a husband and wife team. Also, the burgers at the GasLight Bar and Grill were amazing. The first thing we noticed when traveling to the Bear Mountain Lodge was there are no signs on Route 6. There is a address sign on the highway that just says "8010" and if you have someone closely behind you, you will not make the turn in time. After safely turning around, we went up the driveway. While our room was number 4 (Canyon Room) and was on the main floor, it must be noted there are a number of steps to get up onto the porch. Once we got settled in, it was terrific. The common room was comfortable, bright and well appointed. The room had a very comfortable bed, a Keurig coffee make and numerous coffee options. The dorm refrigerator came in very handy for our refrigerated items and the two terry cloth robes were a nice touch. We had an outside porch which faced the back woods and a private hot tub. The Lodge provided muffins, scones, fruit, juice, water and yogurt.

I cannot emphasize how much we LOVED our stay. My mother, my boyfriend and I were spending a night. We got lucky to get a room! I almost don't want to write a review because people will see how phenomenally the place is run and we won't ever get back in! The staff are a pleasure to speak to, the attention to detail is amazing and the place is simply gorgeous! If you need to check in with somebody like a boring hotel, this place is not for you. If you love a remote and private getaway not far from town with all the amenities of a timeshare, then this place will be right up your alley! They made a bed for my mother and there were coffee and snacks awaiting along with fresh baked cookies and a personalized letter and keepsake tote! Thank you so much for making our stay so comfortable and fun! We will be back!

My husband and I just spent the weekend in the Bear Room at Bear Mountain Lodge to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Such a great place! We had a wonderful time. The room is small, but there was still plenty of room for the two of us. Mini fridge stocked with drinks, cheese, and yogurt. Yummy muffins provided daily with fruit and granola bars. Variety of coffee, teas, and cappuccino k-cups with Keurig machine provided in room. Cute bear decor! We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub on our own deck each evening after exploring Wellsboro and the surrounding area. If in Wellsboro check out The Roost for awesome Bourbon Molasses wings! The only thing I would suggest is putting up actual window shades or blinds at the window and door so that the light can be blocked out in the mornings instead of just curtain panels. The whole lodge is a beautiful place. We definitely hope to be back again!

This was an unexpected little gem on our week-long road trip from Baltimore to Niagara Falls to Toronto. We really only stopped in Wellsboro because it was on our way to Niagara falls and I can't be in the car for a long time without getting fidgety. Well ironically, this was my favorite place we stayed for the entire trip. We stopped on our way to Niagara and on out way back to Baltimore a week later. We stayed in 2 different rooms (on purpose) and both were amazingly beautiful. We stayed in the Bear Room and Canyon room respectively. Everything is super bear themed and it was really cute. Both rooms had outdoor jacuzzi tubs as well, which we took full advantage of. The rooms were incredibly clean, smelled fresh, and offered up free breakfast/snacks for people using the Wellsboro trails. We also took advantage of the $10 in Wellsboro cash for meals both times. There really isn't anything in Wellsboro, PA but a quick little main street you might miss if you blink, but if this was closer to home, we would definitely come back. It was one of the coolest places I have ever stayed.

Wife had not been to Wellsboro or the Pine Creek Gorge, so i decided to take her there. We are campers, but wanted something quick and easy and didn't like the idea of a small motel. It was also a little cool out with a low in the '30's. We found the Bear Mt. Lodge and booked the Canyon room. The room was great and we enjoyed the hot tub. We used our "Wellsboro bucks" at the Timeless Destination restaurant, which was nice. We also biked the Pine Creek Trail to Blackwell. The stay at the Bear Mt. Lodge was quiet and comfortable. The little touches were nice: bag with our name on it, chalk board with our names on it, flowers, chocolates, breakfast, stocked refrigerator, etc. The decor of the lodge was very nice as my wife loves black bears. I've hiked the West rim trail and biked the Pine Creek trail. Next time we will kayak the Pine Creek...when it's warmer. We look forward to coming back in different seasons. Thanks for the great service.
