The lodge is meticulously presented in a well kept, private, wooded lot. There are no large signs or graphics indicating a place of business. It rather feels as if it’s your private home, away from home.Upon entering the wilderness suite I was met with personalized touches. A welcome message to me was written on a small chalk board. There was a letter in an envelope, and a gift (A Bear Mountain jute tote)! The rooms were pristine and well appointed. The suite contained everything I could possible need for a comfortable stay. This suite has a private sitting room, a bedroom, a whirlpool tube, and a bathroom - each carrying the lodge motif.I will most certainly recommend Bear Mountain Lodge, and I’ll also be returning.

My husband and I stayed here April 26th - 28th 2025 and it was so lovely, the perfect weekend stay! We stayed in the Wilderness Suite. We stayed in the room for a lot of the trip as we really just wanted to relax and we loved it!There was so much to love, this place is such a gem. As I’m part of Gen Z, I loved the self check-in and how easy the process was. For being a B&B, the suite felt very secluded which I really appreciated. We loved the filled mini fridge and the little basket of goodies, specifically the fresh baked muffins! We also adored the jacuzzi tub, it was definitely my favorite part.I’ve been thinking about going back ever since that I am now writing this review after booking my second trip, now to their Bear Meadows Lodge later this year! Very excited, especially knowing that it is run by the same wonderful people so I can expect the same coziness and cleanliness :)

Girlfriend and I stayed in the bear room for our anniversary and we couldn’t be happier. The lodge is secluded from neighbors yet close enough to all the things you would want to do. It’s about a 10 minute drive to the shops and restaurants in town and all of the hikes and lookouts we went too were within a half hour. Our room also had a private balcony and private hot tub which Is always a plus! The lodge was very clean and the owner had wrote a little note for us as well as put a rose and our names on a chalkboard in our room. It’s the little things like that really made us feel welcome and special, we are already talking about our next trip to the lodge. Would recommend anyone here and to the bear room.

What a lovely, quiet, clean stay! We stayed in the Bear Room. As advertised, it was small - but perfectly clean and quiet. The hot tub was a real plus after a day of hiking. Would definitely stay at this lodge again!|There was no hot, cooked breakfast, but the little basket of muffins, fruit and treats for the day were just perfect!

Fantastic little lodge. Rooms were cleans and well cared for. The complimentary muffins and snacks were definitely appreciated before long days on hiking and the hot tub felt amazing when we got back (also very clean and well cared for). Location we perfect - about 5-10 minutes from Wellsboro were you can grab a bite out to eat with no trouble; and about 35 minutes from Cherry Spring State Park. My wife and I stayed in the Bear Room and will definitely be back

Clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Bear Room on 6/524. The attention to detail was great. The room was clean. The hot tub deck was very private overlooking the trees and hillside. The whole lodge was great, comfortable and cozy. Lots of complimentary amenities in the fridge along with coffee, muffins, yogurt, and fruit. Will definitely go back

The hot tub was great, especially after hiking the gorge. There was a great variety of snacks and coffees. We really enjoyed our stay and will come back. Thanks for a great trip to celebrate our anniversary.

The bear mountain lodge is a real gem. |We stayed in the Wilderness suite - and this is one of the most romantic rooms we have ever stayed in: lots of dim lights, a jacuzzi, an electrical log burner, comfartable bed, ...|The suite is huge and at the same time extremely cozy - the decor gives you the feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere - even though the town is only a 7 minute drive away. |Apart from the room / suite, you can also use the upper area to have a drink (free coffee and tea), heat up some food, or enjoy breakfast. |There is no served breakfast but you do get muffins, juices, yoghurts, fruits and there are complementary cereals. |If you are in the area, a sight detour to Wellsboro is well worth it!

Ahh what a nice find!! A locally owned BnB that is decorated in north woods cabin decor. The place is all run by internet payment and open door policy. We got the Whitetail room this time. We plan on trying each room since we visit the mother in law in Wellsboro and the kids stay with grandma and we stay in the romantic lodge as a couple. It works out great! We found the kitchen and common area comfy and plenty of No Cook Breakfast goodies. Muffins, fruit, granola, yogurt, coffee and juice made up our morning breakfast. We loved the lodge pole bed in the room and the huge whirlpool tub just right for two. The balcony opens up overlooking 6 and we are in the treetops which made it even cozier if that was even possible! We left early and went to the canyon which took 20 minutes to get to. The weather was rough so we plan on coming back later to take advantage of the bike trails and hiking. Much appreciation goes to the ladies who maintain the rooms and the breakfasts and coffee! We loved this place!

Excellent stay in Wellsboro! Very comfortable room, good communication with host, and I loved all of the snacks and drinks. The home is conveniently located near several nice restaurants in the heart of town. I look forward to staying there again.

Relaxing Tine We were greatly surprised. Had a nice welcome bag on the door when we got there. Went in room and exactly what I wanted. We needed to just relax. They provided a few things to eat as a breakfast. Made sure it was restocked for next day. Could not ask for more.

This is where to go to have that alone time with the one you love. This lodge was recommended to us by a friend. We checked it out in April 2023. We loved the room and the quiet atmosphere. There were other people staying there but you would never know it. It's so quiet and relaxing. We booked another stay in November 2023 because we loved it there. We tried the wilderness suite in April and the canyon room in November. Both rooms were beautiful and very cozy. We've stayed in hotels and you only get 2 towels. This lodge supplies you with plenty of towels for your stay. The rooms are very clean and there's no in person interaction with anyone from the lodge. It is all on a trust policy. The gift shop has many choices of souvenirs. We cannot recommend this lodge enough. It's so quiet and a great place to connect with the one you love. It's adults only. You won't regret it.

Beware the steep driveway & steps after a long bike ride. Overall, good location to access PCRT (careful crossing Rt6). Very nice room and snacks. Bring cash for souvenir shop.

Perfect! Perfect! I came home and booked it again! Easiest check in ever! Greeted with a “Welcome” slate, a fresh rose, chocolate, flickering candles, big thirsty towels (extras for the hot tub), robes, well stocked mini fridge, tray of snacks, and muffins for the next morning! Hot tub and private deck are a delight…had morning coffee with the deer in the meadow! And for the first time ever while staying in a hotel…I didn’t have to ask for extra coffee!!! My next reservation for here is already confirmed…and I can hardly wait to return!

Very enjoyable stay!! The little details demonstrated at the Bear Mountain Lodge exceeded our expectations! In our room we found FULL size quality towels (enough to use for showering and the hot tub), 2 robes for the hot tub, a stocked mini fridge with juices, sodas, waters, yogurt and little cheeses, a keurig with a fully stocked k cup tree along with a basket of snacks that was refilled daily! In the kitchen of the lodge there were extra waters in the fridge, containers of granola and trail mix along with ziploc bags to fill and go. There was even bug spray at the front door to use. Another little detail that we haven't seen in places that we have stayed - spray in the bathroom (because we all have to go at some point but who wants to smell it).

More than satisfied with my choice!~ This has got to be one of the best-kept secrets of central PA (and I'm not mad about that). My experience going to Bear Meadows Lodge was above and beyond my expectation. The location itself is quiet and charming. But the room, amenities, and view really took the entire experience to the next level. I cannot overstate the level of joy and restoration experienced during my overnight stay with my girlfriend in the Headwaters Room (Number 6). Truly an unforgettable vacation for us after a long time apart and I am so grateful for the level of care and trust given to me as a guest here.

A few notes of interest:
1. You will likely not see anyone from management, though they will respond if you call and leave a voicemail. At first, this might seem odd if you're expecting something similar to a hotel experience, but Bear Meadow Lodge is not that at all. The room, deck, and space are yours to enjoy, carefully set up for the guest. They have everything you need and operate on trust. For example, your room key is on your door in an envelope with the guest's name on it. Also, the gift shop has an honor system with a fill-out card; we bought hats without interacting with a person! This is very much a private and personal experience, which is just what we needed!
2. It is very close to the town of Wellsboro, which I highly recommend you enjoy if you somehow miss it on your way in. There are quite a few mom-and-pop shops and some great eats you don't want to miss (The Steak House, Wellsboro Diner).
3. Be sure to enjoy the nature around you. We saw so many birds and thoroughly enjoyed the morning fog and nighttime stars. Take it in, breathe deep, and reset. You won't regret staying here.

Milestone birthday celebrated in style Delightful late winter get away to romantically celebrate a milestone birthday! We stayed in the wilderness suite with the beautiful and comfortable ironwork bed, fireplace and whirlpool tub. The stage was set on arrival with warm lights on, music playing, and a pretty chalkboard welcoming a personal greeting. Soft big towels were great! In the morning the breakfast items and coffee leisurely got us on our way. Wellsboro was fun to visit and we got chocolate, wine, and a new pair of hiking boots before hitting a trail with a grand vista view of pine creek. We want to come back and bike ride the rails to trail and relax afterwards in a Bear Lodge jaccuzi this spring! Everything was private this time...next time we want to check out the shared areas upstairs. Oh, and we are tickled with a jute bag souvenir!

Bear Mountain Lodge is a quaint bed and breakfast, I say breakfast because you receive muffins and pastry. Granola, breakfast bars, fruit and all sorts of Keurig coffee and teas. Full use of the kitchen and a gorgeous living room to relax in with cards , games and books. There's even a piano to play if so inclined and bikes to ride in the summer.. We had a hot tub rom. Peaceful and restful. Burning Barrel 6 minutes down the road is also a great place for fresh burgers and beer. Great get away.

Cozy, beautiful lodging We stayed over the New Year's holiday. The lodge is beautiful with several nice additions to make the stay a bit more enjoyable. The room was clean. The general area was inviting and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. It is a great location for a relaxing break

UNBELIEVABLE My husband and I have stayed several times over the past 2 years and every time is perfect. The room is always amazing, no matter which room it is (we have stayed in 3 different ones), the view from the deck is the icing on top for us. Jim and staff make us feel like we are the only guests they have and we are treated so special when we are there. And the minute we leave we are planning on our next visit and counting the days until we can return to our little slice of heaven.

bear lodge what a beautiful location for two elderly retired folks . we were totally pleased with the accommodations. we were looking forward to enjoying and sharing a bottle of wine while relaxing in hot tub on our private deck. we had suite #9 .however mother nature supplied us with a steady wind of around 10 to 15 mi per hour. our curtains surrounding our hot tub were constantly blowing into the water.(mountain breeze suite was appropriately named). we made the best of it under the circumstances. we visited the east rim of canyon earlier in the day being treated to a beautiful view of the fall foliage. also enjoying an eagle soaring back and forth. looking forward to returning to your beautiful lodge. thank you for extending veterans discount.

Great place to relax Great place to stay just to relax, ride the trail, or visit Wellsboro. The decor is nicely done; Bear Mountain is obvious everywhere. We even ready a review in the guest book that just a few weeks ago, a bear was here to welcome the guests. We were celebrating a birthday and riding the Pine Creek trail. We stayed in the Canyon room and were welcomed with a personal note on the mantel. Everything was ready for our stay when we arrived. Just walk in and make yourself at home. The room was supplied with muffins, fresh fruit, breakfast bars, juice, water and coffee. Fresh fruit and trail mix and granola to go also available in the kitchen, which I took advantage of. There’s a large front deck for sunny afternoons inside or out, and our room had a small deck facing the back woods. The little hot tub was really appreciated after a long ride on the trail - 62 miles for 60+ birthday ;) . The bedroom and bath were clean and comfy, with towels for shower and hot tub. Our time was quiet and relaxing. It’s an easy trip over to Wellsboro. We went over to walk around and eat dinner. Highly recommend Beck’s Bistro ($$$). Food was excellently prepared. I may need to make this a yearly birthday trip.

Another stay with Bear Lodges Another absolutely wonderful time!!! My husband and I decided we needed to get away for awhile and wanted to visit the PA Grand Canyon. It is only a little over 2 hours away for us so we figured it would be a great place to visit again. This time we decided to try Bear Meadows and once again we were not disappointed. Just like Bear Mountain Lodge, Bear Meadows is a very wonderful place. Beautiful lodge with grand lodging. They make you feel like royalty!! Gorgeous view from our private patio, relaxing hot tub for our early evening leisure time, comfortable king size "sleigh bed"(had to use the step stool to get onto bed, LOL), delicious snacks/fruit/water etc and peace and quiet. It is WONDERFUL!!!! We recommend Bear Lodges to all our friends and family and look forward to visiting again in the near future. A big THANK YOU to Jim, Amanda and Sherri!!!!!!

Great place to stay. The wife and I needed a place to get away from the daily grind. This place was the perfect place. We only had plans on visiting the Pine Gorge which is 15 mins away. Talking with the locals we played everything by ear for the next couple days. (Penns Cavern, Corning Museum of Glass, Elk country) We always had a place to back and relax and chill on the porch in the Whitetail room.

Great get away! We stayed overnight in the Bear Room #2. The room was small (which we knew) but it was cozy and private. The hot tub on the deck was secluded and overlooked the woods. Everything you needed was in the room. The extra towels for the hot tub, robes, snacks, mini fridge (filled) were all an added touch to make your stay even more enjoyable! The owners thought of everything! I loved the fact that there was a bike barn to keep your bikes if you wanted to bike the trail. I would recommend this to anyone who would just like to get away or spend the weekend hiking or biking. We also used our Wellsboro bucks and enjoyed breakfast the next day at the Wellsboro Diner.

Believe the Hype! Even with all of the wonderful reviews of Bear Meadows Lodge, I was like, "There's no way it's going to be as amazing as everyone says." Well, it is. The Hideaway room was beautiful and so comfortable, the view of the meadow and mountains from the private back deck was spectacular, and the jacuzzi was a great way to relax after long days of hiking and exploring. The WiFi wasn't the best, but we were looking to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of every day life so that wasn't a big deal for us. The stocked fridge and snack basket offered plenty of selection (oh my gosh, **the muffins**), and the Wellsboro dollars could be used at lots of locations in town. We're already talking about going back early next year =)
